LAHORE: The Lahore Eatfood fesdval began on Friday afternoon with people trickling in till late in the evening.
The venue of the festival, Fortress Stadium, was lit with colourful lights and stalls were set up along the circumference. Outside the stadium, people formed queues to getin. Some turned back when they found out that the entry was ticketed.
`It should be free if we are already paying for food inside,` said a visitor.
`I think people should not make a fuss over entry ticket; after all it`s only a small amount,` said Hiba, a student.
After a long delay of around eight weeks, the first day of festival seemed to have lived up to people`s expectations.
`We thought it would not happen but we are really glad it took place all odds, said a f ather of two.
The first day of the festival also featured a musical act with Goonga and Mithoo Saeen performing the dhol on stage with a woman dhol player.
It was a hot day, but f amilies said that the evening was spent well in the open air as it had become much more pleasant later.
`We hope the next two days will see more people,` said an organiser.
