Encroachments along G.T. Road removed

ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Sunday claimed to have removed all illegal encroachments and constructions on the right of way of Grand Trunk (G.T.) Road near Tarnol railway crossing.

`During the operation, illegal encroachments and constructions on the right of way of G.T. Road from Tarnol Phatak towards Peshawar Mor were completely demolished and state land was retrieved from encroachers,` said the CDA in a press release.

It said the CDA and the capital administration jointly carried out the operation and demolished several buildings, shops, boundary walls and illegal constructions.

Director Enforcement Faheem Badshah, Assistant Commissioner ICT Saad Bin Asad and other officers and staff of the local administration, National Highway Authority (NHA) and Land and Rehabilitation Directorate took part in the operation.

Heavy contingent of police was deployed with the backup of Rangers to cope with any untoward incident.

The operation was conducted after a demarcation carried out by the revenue staff of the CDA, ICT and the NHA.
