THE country has tried all sorts of political systems, but nothing seems to work beyond a certain point of time. There is change in the air these days, but there is nothing new about it. Political instability is growing and threatening to destabilise much more than merely the system.
The recently unveiled National Security Policy (NSP)laid stress on a strong economy as the best guarantor for national security, but political stability is a prerequisite for building a strong economy; the NSP missed to make a reference to this aspect.
Pakistan was orphaned in the early years of its birth after the passing away of itsfoundingfathers and afterseven decades, we are still trying to find a foster father. What a tragedy! Even after three generations, we have not grown up.
