LA HORE: Robbers and thieves looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth over Rs20 million and shot at and injured a man on resistance in the provincial capital on Thursday.

A gang plundered Rs16 million from the house of industrialist Irfan Hussain in the Model Town police jurisdiction. There were conflicting reports about the number of robbers who barged into the house as the family claimed there were two robbers whereas police said there was one robber who made off with valuables.

Initial information said the armedmenforcedtheirentryinto the residence of industrialist in Model Town`s E Block, held up the family and took away cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth over Rs16 million.

In another incident, policearrested a suspected robber shortly after he shot at and injured a citizen in Ghaziabad area. Three suspects stopped a family riding a car and snatched from them valuables. One of the suspects bred three shots and injured the car rider, police said, adding that following a 15 call, police rushed to the site and nabbed one of them.

Thieves looted valuables including cash and gold ornaments worth over Rs1.1 million from the house of Sultan in Defence C area.

The armed men looted valuables worth over Rs300,000 from the house of Waleed at Faisal Town.

Robbers entered Shahzad`s shop in North Cantt, held up the owner at gunpoint and escaped with Rs115,000.

Armed men deprived Shafiq of Rs80,000 in Gujjarpura area, Abbas of Rs60,000 in Samanabad and Jaffar Rs35,000in Shafiqabad.
