CHARSADDA: The vendors at Charsadda Fruit and Vegetable Market held a press conference to register their protest and draw attention of authorities towards what they called `disgraceful` behaviour of local contractors.
They set a three-day deadline to the authorities to arrest the contractors, who were already named in an FIR for alleged malpractices and corruption.
They threatened to go on a strike if their demand was not met.
The vendors said that lease of the land owned by Islamia College Peshawar and being used as fruit and vegetable market expired in 2016 but local contractors were collecting tax by force from them without any agreement or schedule.
They alleged that the contractors occupied the land illegally.
They said that Islamia College administration was unable to resolve the issue. They said that they were threatened after they held talks with the college administration.Correspondent
