PESHAWAR: Lawyers have condemned the murder of their colleague Mian Jamal Shah in Peshawar three days ago and called upon the government to implement Lawyers Welfare and Protection Act, 2023.

A joint general body meeting of Peshawar High Court Bar Association and Peshawar District Bar Association, chaired by Ameenur Rehman Yousafzai, expressed concern over growing incidents of violence against lawyers and demanded of the government to provide protection to them.

The meeting was attended by PHCBA secretary general Ashfaq Ahmad Daudzai, PDBA president Qaiser Zaman, other office-bearers and members in a large number.

Through a unanimously adopted resolution, the meeting demanded arrest of the killers of Mian Jamal Shah within 48 hours. The meeting also called upon the government to improve security situation in the province, failing which legal fraternity would decide future course of action. Bureau Report
