LAHORE: The judges of district courts on Wednesday called off their unannounced strike and resumed judicial work after lawyers involved in misbehaving with a civil judge tendered an unconditional apology during reconciliation before district and sessions judge.
The judicial officers had abandoned their work after some lawyers misbehaved with civil judge Waseem Ahmad allegedly for not delivering a ‘favourable’ decision the other day.
A delegation led by Lahore Bar Association President Chaudhry Tanvir Akhtar visited District & Sessions Judge Abid Qureshi to get the dispute resolved. During the dialogue, the bar members condemned the incident. The ‘guilty’ lawyers, Rana Faisal and Atif Aqeel, also joined the reconciliation process and sought unconditional apology from the civil judge.
The D&SJ reconciled the matter and judges resumed their work.
Meanwhile, a lawyer filed a writ petition in the Lahore High Court seeking action against the lawyers involved in misbehaving with the civil judge.
Advocate Shahid Rana contended that the lawyers by committing misconduct in court degraded the entire legal fraternity. He asked the court to order a stern action against the lawyers for misconduct.
