ISLAMABAD: Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India (Tapi), a consortium of four countries, will meet in Dubai this month to review progress of the multibilliondollar gas pipeline project and work on the financial close of the project.
The project`s groundbreaking was performed jointly by President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov of Turkmenistan and President Ashraf Ghani of Afghanistan, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Indian Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari in December 2015 in Turkmenistan. The pipeline will commence from Turkmenistan.
Inter-State Gas Systems (ISGS) managing director Mobin Saulat said that he accompanied Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources Jam Kamal to the 8th Turkmenistan International Gas Congress held on May 23-24.
MD ISGS, during the session on Tapi gas pipeline, highlighted the importance and progress of the project. He said that 1,680km long and 56-inch diameter pipeline with a capacity to flow 3.2 billion cubic feet per day (bcfd) gas will be built between Turkmenistan and Pakistan through Afghanistan.-APP
