THIS refers to the article `Pakistan on the path of sustainable economic growth` (May 7). The finance minister highlighted economic growth at Yokohama recently. In order to meet this objective, there is a dire need for us to invest in human capital inland and abroad.
I am not an economic manager but can say with authority that skilled manpower is the need of the hour. It can be groomed both academically and at skilled level under a comprehensive human resource programme.
Three million youth enter job market every year from different institutions. The federal ministries of human resource, commerce, and water and power should devise a strategy to utilise human capital for boosting economic growth for various entities, including industries, agriculture, mineral exploration and services sectors.
The surplus youth should be trained for international markets. Our diplomatic missions abroad can also play a vital role in the absorption of youth abroad.
One must ponder why we have failed to tap ourfullnaturalresources.
