Bath Island

2017-06-01
THE residents of Bath Island are happy about the recent policy, announced by the Sindh Building Control Authority regarding a ban on highrise buildings in Sindh.

This once quiet locality has recently experienced aspate ofhighrise buildings builtin every street, resultingin perennial sewage overflow, an acute water shortage and battered streets. The old sewerage system is not geared to the heavy load of a densely populated neighbourhood.

The residents hope that this ban will be strictly adhered to and enforced by the relevant authority. We would also like to point out that as per building bylaws, a structure of ground plus two was allowed in Bath Island. This rule has been flouted with impunity.

The storm water drain built someyears ago is already being used as a sewer by those who have connected their sewers to it.
