Ghazi varsity staff, students barred from social media posts

DERA GHAZI KHAN: In the wake of hullabaloo about the sexual harassment cases against the faculty members, the Ghazi university has barred teachers and students from posting any material on the social media.
A press release issued by the university says: `No body is allowed to take up any matter of the Ghazi university on the social media without hav-ing concrete evidence otherwise the university would take stern action against the irresponsible`.
According to the release: `Recently, a female student filed a sexual harassment complaint against a faculty member, to which a probe committee comprising senior teachers was formed. In the light of the recommendations of the probe committee, the two teachers involved in the incident were immediately suspended by the vice chancellor and the matterwas sent to the syndicate headed by the provincial education minister for further action. Now the syndicate will take the final decision against these teachers, all the decisions are being made in the light of the facts and according to the law.
It says in all these cases VC Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kamran has full confidence of the chancellor/ governor, Dera Ghazi Khan commissioner, deputy commissioner and the regional police officer.
It quotes the VC as say-ing that anyone who would indicate occurrence of any negative activity in the university with concrete evidence, strict action would be taken against the `culprit`. While there is noneedforstudents toget panicky.
All the students of the university are informed that the incidents spread on social media are based on lies, claims Director Media Dr Shoaib Raza.
The students should ignore such posts and concentrate on their studies, he maintains.
