PESHAWAR: Residents of Mathra area blocked the Khyber Road here on Saturday against the alleged killing of a man in police custody.

They placed the body on the road.

On Saturday night, the city police issued a statement, saying a mobile snatcher was killed by Mathra police in an exchange of fire.

The statement said Asad, a resident of Miskeenabad, was wanted by the Peshawar and Islamabad police in several cases.

The statement said two motorcyclists opened fire when policemen signalled them to stop at a checkpost.

The police retaliated the fire. After the cross-fire the police launched a search operation and found Asad`s body, while his accomplice escaped.
