Bajaur teacher sacked for torturing student

BAJAUR: A student was injured after he was allegedly tortured by teacher of a government primary school in Lowi Mamond tehsil here on Saturday, the victim`s father and police said.

Talking to reporters, Mohammad Bilal, a resident of Kitkoot area, alleged his 11-year-old son, Mohammad Hazrat, a student of Government Primary School, Kitkoot No 1, was wounded after teacher, Zoobir Khan, beat him up with a stick.

Accompanied by family members and villagers, Mr Bilal alleged the teacher had fined his son Rs200, which he didn`t pay on time due to poverty, which led the teacher to inflict corporal punishment on his son.

He demanded of the district administration, education department and police to take action against the accused.

Meanwhile, the police claimed to have arrested the teacher, and registered a case against him on the complaint of the family.

Also, in a statement on Saturday, district education officer Arbab Sherinzada ordered the immediate termination of the teacher.

The statement said the head teacher of the school had also been suspended for not preventing the incident.
