KHYBER: Authorities at Torkham on Saturday announced that Afghan transporters can utilise Temporary Admission Document (TAD) for their cross-border movement for another month.
Officials said the May 31 deadline was extended at the request of the Afghan Consulate in Peshawar as a majority of Afghan transporters were struggling to obtain Pakistani visa.
Afghan transporters hailed the gesture of goodwill and hoped that it would help ease their cross-border movement at least for another month.
Meanwhile, National Logistics Cell officials at Torkham said that it would take some time for the repair of the faulty export scanning machine as it was sent to Islamabad.
Both the import and export scanning machines developed faults two weeks ago with the import machine repaired by the NLC technicians within three days, while the other machine had to be dispatched to Islamabad for repair by the Chinese technicians.
