TAXILA: A murderer was sentenced to death on Saturday for killing his sister-in-law over domestic dispute in the limits of Taxila police station on December 4, last year.
The court also imposed a fine of Rs500,000 on the convict as damages to be paid to the legal heirs of the deceased.
According to the FIR registered under section 302 and 311 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) at Taxila police station, Mohammad Akram reported to police that his daughter married to Mohammad Awais some six years ago and is now a mother of two.
Her brother-in-law had developed some dispute with her and entered into heated arguments and axed her to death and managed to escape.
Later, police arrested the murderer from his hideout through human and digital intelligence.
During the trial, the prosecution produced substantial evidence against the nominated accused which established involvement of nominated accused in the cold blood murder of the woman and subsequently the additional district and sessions judge after hearing the arguments of defense and prosecution announced the verdict.
