GILGIT: The federal government has released Rs4.2 billion to Gilgit-Baltistan as part of the development budget for the outgoing financial year. Besides, the federal government has also released Rs900 million for Naltar hydropower project and Rs140 million for Kargah Nallah power project.

This was disclosed by Shahidullah Baig, secretary Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan, while talking to mediapersons here on Tuesday. He said the money released was the last installment of development outlay of the fiscal year 2014-15.

This amount, he said would be used during the forthcoming financial year by the new government.

Mr Baig said the four megawatt Kargah power project would help end loadshedding in Gilgit city. He said Rs10 million had also been released for renovation of the Government High School, Gilgit. Mr Baig said he had made all out efforts to get the funds released for development projects in GB.-Correspondent
