423 to vie for 41 A JK assembly seats

MUZAFFARABAD: As many as 423 candidates will fight for the 41 seats of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly on July 21, according to the final list released by the AJK Election Commission here on Wednesday.

Of them, 324 are contesting in the 29 constituencies in AJK and 99 in the 12 constituencies in Pakistan.

Giving details, a spokesman for the AJK Election Commission told that 48 candidates were in the fray in four constituencies of district Mirpur, 45 in three constituencies of district Bhimber, 47 in five constituencies of district Kotli, 51 in four constituencies of district Poonch, 45 in four constituencies of district Muzaffarabad, 25 in three constituencies of district Bagh, 25 in two constituencies of district Sudhnoti, 22 in two constituencies of district Hattian Bala, eight each in one each constituency of district Haveli and district Neelum.

In Pakistan, 63 candidates were in the fray in six constituencies of the refugees from Jammu and others and 36 in the as many constituencies of refugees from Kashmir Valley.

The highest number of candidates in a single constituency was 17 in LA 6, Bhimber-II and LA 31, Jammu & others II while the lowest number of candidates in a single constituency was 4 in LA 38, Kashmir Valley-III and LA 41, Kashmir Valley-VI.
