This was disclosed within minutes after President Truman announced today (June 30) that he had authorised General MacArthur, commanding United Nations Forces in defence of Southern Korea, to use `certain` ground units. News that troops were on their way came from Secretary of Defence Louis Johnson... . He would not say what units were moving... . ... The President ... also authorised aerial attack on North Korean bases and ordered a full blockade of the Korean coast.

[Meanwhile, as reported from Lake Success,] the Pakistan Representative to the United Nations, Professor A.S. Bokhari, de clared .... that his Government considered the hostilities in Korea as `a clear case of aggression on the part of North Korea`. He said that ... Pakistan ... would give its `full support` to measures proposed by the Security Council to stop the war.

At least 14 of the 59 members of the [UN] including four of the five major Powers on the Security Council, had by tonight [June 30] pledged their support for the Council`s rallying of aid to South Korea in its fight against the Northern invaders. News agencies
