ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Peoples Party said on Sunday that there was no rift within party ranks on the appointment of Murad Ali Shah as new Chief Minister of Sindh.
However, inside sources said that PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari had called separate meetings with party leaders from Sindh to end differences.
The Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) claimed on Sunday that some rift existed within PPP ranks and that the newly appointed chief minister was seeking advice or taking dictation from Dubai (from Mr Zardari).
`This is absurd that there is any rift within the PPP on the appointment of Murad Ali Shah,` PPP leader Saeed Ghani said while talking to Dawn.
Reacting to the PTI`s claim, he said KP Chief Minister Pervez Khatak took orders from PTI chief Imran Khan.Meanwhile, the newly elected Sindh chief minister left for Dubai on Sunday to have a detailed meeting with Asif Ali Zardari.
Mr Ghani said: `Murad Ali Shah enjoys complete support and confidence of all MPAs.
He said that all MPAs had supported the new chief minister and casting of vote by Hasnain Mirza, the son of disgruntled PPP leader Zulfiqar Mirza, showed that Mr Shah was supported by all PPP MPA s.
He said that some PPP lawmakers, who were out of the country and were spending holidays along with their families in different countries, had cut short their visits and returned to vote for Murad Ali Shah.
DUBAI MEETINGS: Sources said that Mr Zardari had called some PPP leaders to Dubai for meetings to resolve differences among them.
They said that issues, including Rangers` powers to maintain law and order and formation of a new Sindh cabinet, will be discussed during these meetings.
