RAWALPINDI: A toddler who was kidnapped from a government hospital in the garrison city on Saturday evening was found from Peshawar Road on Sunday, police said.
Saim Ali, who is two years and seven months old, was kidnapped by unidentified individuals while playing outside the hospital ward where his mother had gone to visit their neighbour on Saturday.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Habib Mehtab, who was leading the investigation, told Dawn that Tauqeer Bibi and her husband Mohammad Bilal, who live in Taxila, came to the hospital along with their son Saim Ali.
She was visiting a patient in the surgical ward, and the child was playing outside the ward when he went missing.
When Ms Tauqeer found her son missing, she started searching for him and contacted the hospital security. She then lodged a complaint with R.A. Bazaar police. The child was found late Saturday night at Lane No.7 on Peshawar Road.
The investigating officer said the police obtained CCTV footage from the hospital which suggested the child was kidnapped by an unidentified individual dressed in shalwar kameez, and added that he hoped the kidnapper is arrested soon.
