Two arrested for impersonating police

ISLAMABAD: Two people were arrested at the chief commissioner complex on Monday on the charge of impersonating police officials.
The police said the suspects were moving around in the building wearing the uniform of police commandos. The complex houses offices of senior capital administration and police officers, including the chief commissioner, the deputy commissioner, assistant commissioners, magistrates and the senior superintendent of the police.
When the police intercepted the two men for their suspiclous movements, they failed to produce any identification documents.
As a result, they were taken into custody and shifted to the Ramna police station for an investigation.
A police officer told Dawn that the two men were natives of Karak in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They claimed that they were working at a service station in Islamabad but the police were yet to confirm it, he added.
The arrested men also failed to justify their presence at the chief commissioner complex.
The officer said a case was registered against the suspects and further investigation was underway. He said the suspects would be produced in the court of law for obtaining their remand.
Meanwhile, the capital police arrested 16 outlaws, including three bootleggers, from different parts of the city and recovered contraband items, including narcotics, from their possession.
The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of the police held four people for their alleged involvement in thef t and recovered valuables from them, said the police. The CIA also nabbed a bootlegger and recovered 102 bottles of liquor from him.
The Bhara Kahu police arrested another bootlegger and recovered 25 litres of alcohol from him while the Ramna police rounded up nine people, including three women, for their alleged involvement in immoral activities.
