ISLAMABAD: Minister for National Health Services Mohammad Yousuf Sheikh on Tuesday said the National Institute of Health (NIH) would be transformed so that it attains recognition at national and international level.
`The uplift of NIH will contribute towards achieving sustainable development goals and will serve our people, he said during a briefing at the institute.
NIH Executive Director Prof Dr Amir Ikram briefed the minister about the recent developments and achievements of the institute.
He was informed that NIH was undertaking a successful implementation of five-year roadmap of International Health Regulations and Global Health Security Agenda.
The minister said upgradation of laboratory facilities was critical, which had been successfully undertaken.
He said though health was a provincial subject, the federal government could not absolve itself of its responsibility.
`We must continue to strive to improve the quality of health services.
The public health scientists of NIH must make every effort in this context, he said. A Reporter
