`Rock `N Roll` moon ride

2021-08-01
HOUSTON: Apollo-15 astronauts David Scott and James Irwin rolled off across the moon at a steady five miles an hour today [July 31], in man`s first lunar exploration by car.

`This is really a Rock `N Roll ride,` exclaimed Scott.

... `Boy it`s really rolling hills ... just like (Apollo) 14 ... it`s up and down we go,` [Scott told Houston].

`Lot of roll. Feels like we need the seat belts, Irwin agreed.

As the car swayed and bumped south, past craters and rock fragments, Scott reported that its speed which when as high as seven miles per hour on the flat dropped off as they went up the slopes.

They were averaging about five MPH. ...
