SUKKUR: A four-year-old boy kidnapped from near his parents` home, situated in the Risaldar area of Kashmore, about two months ago was recovered on Monday.
Officials of the Kashmore police produced the boy, Azeem Malik, before the media after transporting him from inside the gang-infested riverine area to the Risaldar police station. The boy looked unharmed and calm when he was to be handed over to his parents by the police.
Kandhkot-Kashmore SSP Amjad Ali Shaikh told the media that the police had received an intelligence report specifying the location the RD-109 section of the Sindh-Balochistan border of the hideout of a gang where the kidnapped boy was kept. Special police teams were formed to carry out a surprise raid on the hideout and in a successful action, the boy was rescued unharmed, he added.
It may be mentioned here that a series of protests were held in different parts of Kashmore by relatives of Azeem Malik and many other missing men, women and children in the wake of a wave of kidnapping incidents that hit the Kandhkot-Kashmore district two months ago. The local chapter of Jamaat-i-Islami had pitched a protest camp at Ghanta Ghar Chowk for over 30 days which was visited by leaders and activists of various political and nationalist parties to express solidarity with the victims` families.
Hindu elder, child still in dacoits` custody A couple of video clips uploaded by some gangs on the social media on Monday showed a Hindu community elder, Mukhi Jagdesh Kumar, and a boy, Sadaqat Hajano, desperately begging for authorities` help in their immediate release.
The Mukhi could be seen chained and sitting on the floor presumably of a hideout of his kidnappers. The boy was seen being tortured and forced to raise a hue and cry for help with a Klashnikov pointed to his head.
Commenting on the videos that went viral, SSP Shaikh called for restraint and held out the assurance that they would also be got freed unharmed soon. He said more than 10 such kidnap victims had been safely recovered since he took the additional charge of Kandhkot-Kashmore only a couple of weeks back.
