BAHAWALNAGAR: A woman was arrested for allegedly poisoning her minor stepson to death in Dahranwala here on Thursday.

The FIR registered with the Haroonabad Saddar police said that Kashif Jutt of Rehman Town had been married to Tasleem Kausar of Chak 21/3R for about 13 years. The couple had four children, Noor Fatima (9), Imaan Fatima (8), Muhammad Yusaf (7) and Ibrahim (2).It said that about one and a half year ago, Kashif married Zaitun, throwing his first wife out of the house and keeping his children. It went on to say that the behaviour of Zaitun with the children was `inappropriate` from the first day.

It said that on the evening of July 30, she allegedly mixed something poisonous in sweets and fed it to Ibrahim, which caused the immediate death of the child.

Police said the woman was booked under section 302 of the PPC and was being interrogated.
