`Herbal` drug manufacturing unit sealed

LAHORE: A special team comprising city district administration officials on Monday sealed a drug manufacturing factory on Chohan Road, Islampura, for being operated unlawfully.
According to officials, the production of allopathic medicines was going onunderthe garb of `herbal medicines` at the factory.
There were also inadequate cleanliness and drug handling arrangements in the factory, they added.
The team also got arrested the factory man-ager on the spot, whereas a case has been registered by the area police against the owner Sheikh Mateen.
The Officials said the factory had also been sealed earlier after samples taken from there were found substandard in laboratory tests, but its owner continued drug production despite the action.
Meanwhile, various price control magistrates on Monday got arrested 68 shopkeepers, besides imposing over Rs68,000 fine on others for overcharging.
CENTRES: The CDGL will establish 10 vocation training centres or schoolsfor girls and women in various rural and semi-rural localities of the metropolis.
According to a spokesman, these centres will be established in Kahna, Halloki, Hier, Bhaisan, Minhala, Harbanspura, Basra, Padhana, Peer Naseer and Pangali areas.
`The girls and women will be imparted various vocation skills, enabling them to earn livelihood for their families,` the spokesman said in a statement on Monday.
He said the CDGL`s day care centre at Wahdat Colony would have more rooms in order to accommodate more children.
