THE KMC is now engaged in an operation against encroachers in the city. What is the use of such an operation, which is launched with great fanfare during the day,and asthe sunsets,they reappear with impunity? The authorities concerned should not feel browbeaten as some resistance from the encroachers is only natural. The operation should continue without any hindrance.
Action is also needed against eateries in Block 18 of Gulistan-i-Jauhar where footpaths are occupied by encroachers.
The implementation of the law should be done with an iron hand, so that no encroacher dares to come back to the place which has been cleared once. If need be, the task of cleaning the city of encroachers should also be given to the Rangers for a permanent solution of the problem if the civil administration has no guts to keep Karachi clean of land grabbers and encroachers.
