ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan People`s Party (PPP) dissident group, known as PPP-Worl(ers (PPP-W), has appointed Nawab Khattak as its Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chapter coordinator in order to expand in the province.
PPP-W president Dr Safdar Ali Abbasi told Dawn that the PPP-W was neither a separate group nor a separate entity, but was instead a registered platforrn for workers to safeguard the party. PPP-Workers believes that the disenfranchised public are the true heirs of Bhutto`s legacy, he added.
`Our leaders are Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Nusrat Bhutto and BenazirBhutto, and these three ofñces ofPPP areforeverdedicated to these great leaders,` he said.
Mr Abbasi said Khattak was an old guard of the PPP, and a staunch follower of Bhutto`s ideology.
He joined the Pakistan People`s Party `s struggle against Gen Ziaul Haq at an early age, and was appointed People`s Students Federation (PSF) district president, youth divisional president and PPP provincial media adviser in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said as PPP-W coordinator, Khattak would bring old PPP workers from KP into the fold by honouring their contributions.
He will also promote the youth within the party as per Benazir`s wishes as the youth make up 60 per cent of the total population and play a pivotal role in the determination offuture Pakistanipolitics.
