LAHORE: A pharmaceutical factory being run without licence was sealed on Sheikhupura Road after a raid on Friday night by Chief Minister’s Task Force on Spurious, Substandard and Unregistered Drugs.
The raiding team also confiscated medicines, raw material, printing material and machinery and sealed the unit, a handout issued on Saturday said.
Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Health Khwaja Imran Nazir reached the spot and inspected the seized medicines and other items.
Talking to the media, the minister said the licence of the factory had been suspended since last June but the owner continued manufacturing drugs which was illegal.
He said the medicines were being prepared at the unit in unhygienic conditions which was harmful to human health.
The minister said as per chief minister’s directions action would be taken against the factory owners and poor employees would not be held accountable.
