KARACHl: The seven-year-old girl, who on Friday received a stray bullet in her shoulder inside a private school in Saeedabad near the Police Training Centre, died during treatment on Sunday, officials said.
The girl was playing in the ground of the school with other children when a bullet fired from an unknown direction hit her in the shoulder, said Saeedabad SHO Arz Mohammed.
She was initially taken to Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi and later to the National Institute of Child Health, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment on Sunday, added the officer.
The body was handed over to her family after fulfilling legal formalities.
The area SHO said that the police had registered a murder case against unidentified suspects on a complaint of the victim`s father, Saleem.
The officer added that the police were investigating the case as to from where the bullet had been fired.
The grief-stricken parents demanded justice from authorities.
Meanwhile, Additional Inspector General of Police Karachi Dr Ameer Ahmed Sheikh told the media that all stakeholders in the case should determine that why incidents involving stray bullets had become rampant.
The city police chief said that this incident would be made a test case.
