Six petrol pumps involved in short-measuring

LAHORE: The weights and measures wing of the Punjab Labour and Human Resource Department found six out of seven petrol pumps selling fuel with inaccurate measures here on Friday.

The department conducted raids during a campaign launched on the direction of Provincial Minister for Labour Raja Ashfaq Sarwar on public complaints of less measuring.

Special squads headed by weights and measures deputy controller Arshad Mahmood Tarar initiated raids on seven pumps out of which six were found selling petrol with less measurement by tampering with government seals and equipment.

The petrol pumps found with lessmeasuring of petrol were Meher Gas Station, Sanda Road; Highway Traders, Bahawalpur House; Haider Filling Service Centre, Main Peco Road; Usman Filling Station, Kot Lakhpat; Gausia Service Centre, Wapda Town, and A&A Filling Station, Johar Town.

The department also lodged 31 prosecutions in courts for further action while 18 units were sealed for less measuring during the drive.

A total number of 45 nozels were checked out of which 28 nozels were found accurate while the rest were found with less measuring. Only Ravi Service Station was found selling petrol with accurate measures.--APP
