GUJRANWALA: Containers` owners demonstrated on Monday on GT Road in protest at the impounding of their boxes by police.

Goods Transport Association President Wasif Butt said that containers were laden with perishable goods and their prolonged seizure would result in their losses.

He alleged the government was using their containers to block the roads without paying them any amount. They demanded that the district administration and police authorities release their vehicles instantly.Dawn learned the impounded containers would be used to block GT Road near Sadhoki, Kamoki, Chand da Qila by-pass, Upper Chenab Canal, Ghakkhar Town and at Upper Chenab river bridge at Wazirabad to stop the people from participating Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf sit-in in Islamabad on Nov 2.

FIA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested on Monday a man for minting money from a visa seeker, FIA Deputy Director Khalid Anees said.

Suspect Munawwar Iqbal, of Mandi Bahauuddin, had extorted Rs1.5 million from a man posing him a German embassy of ficial.

The FIA also arrested Utility Stores Corporation manager Mohsin Ali in corruption case and alleged human agent Muhammad Asif.

ACE: The Anti-CorruptionEstablishment (ACE) arrested on Monday naib tehsildar Mian Nazir in a corruption case while two revenue patwri Hamid Amin and Ashref escaped.

The three officials were involved in a Rs40 million case.

The raiding party arrested the naib tehsildar in his of fice.

The ACE is also after building inspectors Azhar Cheema and Husnain Haider for their alleged corruption.

CASE: The Satellite Town police arrested on Monday a couple riding a motorcycle and seized huge quantity of narcotics from them.

Police said Jaffer Husain along with his wife was supplying hashish to other cities riding the motorcycle.

He was carrying eight kilo hashish at the time of arrest. Police registered a case against the couple.
