CHARSADDA: The people of 25 disputed villages in Shabqadar area here on Tuesday briefly suspended the anti-polio drive in protest against excessive electricity loadshedding in their areas.

The polio workers were not allowed to proceed with the campaign in Shabqadar, Pir Qilla, Malka Korona, Koday, Saro Kali and Shah Ji Korona areas.

However, after a meeting with deputy commissioner Muntazir Shah and other officials, the elders agreed to end the boycott when they were assured of fulfillment of their demand.

The polio teams started applying vaccines to children after 11am. —Correspondent
