KARACHI: The US dollar`s four-dayrallyendedonMonday after it lost Rs1.58 against the rupee to close at Rs220.89 in the interbank market.

The dollar had been appreciating against the local currency during the last week hittingRs222.47 on Oct 28. However, the trend reversed on Monday without any solid reason except that the finance minister issued a warning to currency smugglers on the weekend and reiterated its resolve to bring down the greenback below Rs200.

The dollar, however, gained 50 paise in the open market to close at Rs227.
