TOBA TEK SINGH: A motorway police sub-inspector (SI) died after a coaster van hit him near the Sheikhupura interchange on M-2 on Tuesday.

A spokesperson for the motorway police said SI Syed Fayazat Hussain signalled the van to pull over for violating the lane crossing rule, but the driver ran over him, leaving him injured. He was rushed to the Sheikhupura District Headquarters Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Motorway police DIG Syed Fareed Ali and sector commander Ghulam Qadir Sindhu visited the hospital.

They said the van driver managed to escape, and Sheikhupura police were conducting raids to arrest him.
