Balochistan, Punjab share trophy

KARACHI, Nov 30: Defending champions Balochistan and Punjab were declared joint winners of the NBP Disabled T20 Pentangular Cup after their final ended in a thrilling tie at the NBP Sports Complex Ground on Friday.

Batting first, Punjab raised a competitive total of 150 for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs. Skipper Maj.

Hasnain Alam slammed a fine 64 off 57 balls with four boundaries and a six.

Balochistan in reply were restricted to 150-8 in 20 overs.

Majid Hussain top-scored with 33 off 32 balls with one boundary.

The holders needed just one run on the final delivery.

But Hasnain Alam took a fine catch at short mid-wicket of Mohammad Abdullah off leg-spinner Muhammad Abid to shatter Balochistan`s dreams of winning the event for a third time in a row.

Left-arm pacers Zeeshan Ali snapped up three wickets for 37 runs and leg-spinner Abdul Hussain claimed 2-24.

NBP chief operating officer Asif A. Brohl, who was the chief guest on the occasion presented the winners trophy to Hasnain Alam and Jahanzaib Tiwana.

Hasnian Alam was named the best batsman, Fayyaz Ahmed the best bowler and Matloob Qureshi got the best fielder award.

NBP sports chief and chief selector Iqbal Qasim, Test cricketer Basit Ali, HBL sports division head Abdul Rageeb, KCCA Secretary Ejaz Ahmed Farugi, President Pakistan Disable Cricket Association (PDCA) Saleem Karim, M.Nizam and others were also present on the occasion.
