KARAK, Nov 30: Resolving to take up the issue of oil refinery with the federal government, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F)leader and former provincial minister Mian Nisar Gul has cautioned that working relationship between the oil and gas exploration companies and local people could be affected if the refinery is not established in Karak.

Talking to mediapersons here on Saturday, he said that during his recent meeting with Governor Engineer Shaukatullah he apprised him of the reservations of people of Karak about shifting of the oil refinery to other area.

He claimed that soon a delegation of ulema and notables would also meet the governor to urge him for taking up with the federal government the issue of establishing the oil refinery in Karak.

Mr Gul argued that 75 percent of oil resources had been explored on the soil of Karak district, 23 percent in Kohat district and only two percent in Hangu district, therefore, it was the right of Karak to have the oil refinery.
