2023-12-01
PARIS: Chaudri Mohammad Zafrullah Khan, Pakistan Foreign Minister, today [Nov 30] warned the UN Major Political Committee that `rubber stamping` the existing situation in Palestine would `start a conflagration` which would draw in a wider area and `perhaps the rest of the world`. He was speaking in the Committee`s two-week debate, now at a critical stage, on whether to maintain the original Palestine partition plan, to adopt the proposals of Count Bernadotte, giving Western Galilee to the Jews and the Negeb to the Arabs, or to devise some combination of the two.

Mr Zafrullah, stating Pakistan`s attitude ... had said both plans were `extremely tyrannical and would provoke disturbances, troubles and war`, declared his country would consider a partition which did not give the Arab minorities in a Jewish state a permanent minority status. News agencies [Meanwhile, according to news agencies from Paris,] the so-called `State of Israel` today [Nov 29] formally applied for membership of the United Nations and asked the Security Council to consider its application at this session.
