Lakhvi sent on judicial remand

ISLAMABAD: A judicial magistrate on Thursday sent Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi on 14 days judicial remand to Adiala jail in six-year-old kidnapping case.

Mr Lakhvi has been in the jail for the last six years in connection with the Mumbai attack case.

The alleged mastermind of the Mumbai attacks was produced before magistrate Mubashir Hassan Chisthi.

Islamabad police requested the court to grant five-day physical remand of the accused.

The magistrate, however, sent Lakhvi on 14 days judicial remand and directed the police to produce him in the court after expiry of the period.

Lakhvi has been detained under Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) after an Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) granted him post arrest bail on December 18 in the Mumbai attacks case.

But the detention order too was suspended by the Islamabad High Court (IHC) on December 29.

he was taken into custody by Golra police in connection with over six and half year old kidnapping.

The FIR was registered by the Islamabad police on December 29 on the complaint of an Afghan national Mohammad Daud.

He in his complaint said that his brother-in-law Anwar Khan had been kidnapped by Lakhvi some six years ago.
