RAWALPINDI: President Ayub Khan said in his first-of-the-month broadcast today [Jan 1] that the Government would fully cooperate in the successful implementation of the Press Code of Ethics. He expressed the hope that this Code would make it easy for the newspapers to discharge their duties, and those deviating from it would also learn from their mistakes.
Referring to his recent meeting with a delegation of the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors in connection with the Press Code of Ethics, the President said that he welcomed the proposal of the journalists and told them that newspapers could play a vital role in the newly independent Countries for the welfare of the people.
The President also told the journalists that they could criticise bad points in Society in a constructive way... . But he had pointed out that it was necessary for the newspapers to exercise restraint because great difficulties might be created through a little negligence... . Agency
