CAWNPORE: The open session of the All-India Hindu Mahasabha passed the main resolution of the session reiterating its opposition to any constitution scheme which undermines the integrity of the Indian nations and asking the British Government to modify their policy of possible vivisection of India as embodied in the Cripps proposal. The session ended after passing a resolution concerning `direct action` to achieve recognition of India as an independent nation in the world as well as to defend her integrity. The resolution was moved by Dr B.S. Maheshwar Dayal Seth and Mr B.G. Khaparde.
Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerji moved the main resolution relating to `Akhan Hindustan`.
Moving the resolution, he said the responsibility for the deadlock rested with the British Government. India`s demand, he added, had not been met on various pretexts, such as disunity among various communities. This disunity, he remarked, did not stand in the way of making communal award or placing on the statute book the Government of India Act of 1935.
`We do not want any foreign aggression, any foreign rule. We want India to be ruled by Indians and on behalf of Indians,` he declared.
Continuing, Dr Mookerji said they did not want religion to be brought into the field of politics and blamed the Government for doing the same.
Referring to the efforts made by the Hindu Mahasabha for the formulation of national demand, Dr Mookerji frankly confessed they did not meet with success so far as the Muslim League was concerned, for there was the stumbling block of Pakistan. Dawn Daily
