Drawing workshop for children opens at Alhamra

LAHORE: A two-day drawing workshop for children opened at Alhamra Art Centre, The Mall, on Wednesday.

The visual art activity was an enriching experience for 30 or so children who spread colours on paper and drew lines according to their imagination.

The exhibition organised by Lahore Arts Council was inaugurated by MPA Sadia Sohail Rana flanked by Secretary Information and Culture Raja Jahangir and LAC Executive Director Ather Ali Khan.

The workshop is being conducted by Mina Haroon, LAC assistant director (visual arts).

Ms Haroon said: `Such workshops provide a platform to children to come up with their creative skills and ideas, the age bracket forthis exhibition which is five to 15 years is the most conducive span of one`s life. The children had done some tremendous work during the workshop.

Haroon said children were given training in basic techniques in the workshop.

To MPA Sadia Sohail such workshops benefit children who can spend quality time while learning visual art. She hoped that the council would keep on holding such activities for children.

Executive Director Lahore Arts Council Ather Ali Khan said: `It`s a creative activity for children and a good platform for beginners when it comes to extracurricular activities.

The Alhamra Art Centre has registered more than 30 children for the workshop and their age group is from 5-15 years old.

Children are being taught thebasic techniques of drawing under the supervision of art teachers.

The workshop will conclude onThursday (today) and the participating children will be given certificates.
