PU hosts workshop on national research programme

LAHORE: Punjab University Office of Research Innovation and C om m e r ci ali s a ti on (ORIC) organised a workshop on `National Research Programme for Universities (NRPU)` for the awareness of faculty members and researchers.

ORIC Director Prof Dr Arshad Javed highlighted the importance of the progranmme of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for a progressive Pakistan at the event held at Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (ICET).

ICET Director Prof Dr Abdullah Durrani was the guest of honour while around 200 other faculty members participated in the workshop. He delivered a talk regarding the technical evaluation of research projects.

Assistant professors DrUzma Qaisar and Dr Maliha Uroos were the resource persons for the workshop and briefed the participants about the submissions and the NRPU research projects. They said NRPU was a flagship research programme of the HEC for funding grants for promising scientific projects on merit that demonstrated strategic relevance and impact to local industry and society.

They said the main focus of the programme was to select research projects that would address national priorities by supporting basic and applied as well as translational, experimental and transformative research.

They said the HEC intended to stimulate partnerships between academic researchers and end-users.

ORIC Director Dr Javed presented certificates to the guest of honour and resource persons.
