KURRAM: A police constable, who was injured in a firing incident in the Bushehra area of Kurram district on Friday, succumbed to his injuries later at night.

The funeral prayers of the martyred constable, Syed Ashig Hussain, were offered on the premises of the district police officer`s office in Parachinar.

Ashig Hussain, a resident of Noraki area of Parachinar, had sustained injuries during a firing incident in the Fateh Kallay near Bushehra.

A police contingent presented a salute to the coffin of the martyred constable, who was laid to rest in his ancestral village with official honour.

Meanwhile, in Lower Kurram, unidentified miscreants launched an attack in the Toot Piala area with heavy weapons. Local tribes promptly responded to the attack, forcing the attackers to escape, abandoning rocket launchers, shells, and other weapons behind.
