TAXILA: Huawei Technologies, UET Taxila and Virtual University have joined hands to establish a technical resource centre in Attock`s Jand tehsil.

According to a statement, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by the stakeholders at a ceremony held under the chairmanship of Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan.

The ceremony was attended by UET Taxila Vice Chancellor Profesor Muhammad Inayatullah Khan and Virtual University Rector Profesor Arshad Saleem Bhatti among others.

Speaking to the stakeholders, the Punjab governor said that youth were the country`s most valuable asset and it was essential to equip them with both education and technical skills.

He stated that today`s educational institutions shouldfocusnotjust onproducingjob seekersbut on nurturingjob creators.

He appreciated the initiative of establishing the centre in Jand tehsil, calling it a significant step that would benefit not only the youth of Punjab but also those from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

He assured that every possible support would be provided for the establishment of the centre.

The governor lamented that despite being in close proximity to the federal capital, Jand remains deprived of essential amenities related to education, healthcare and public welfare.

However, he assured that more initiatives focusing on modern and quality education would soon be announcedfor Jand.

Reflecting on the past, Mr Khan noted that during the 1960s and 1970s, the world admired Pakistan`s education system, but today, neighbouring countries have surpassed Pakistan in education and healthcare.

He stressed the need to set aside political interests and work collectively to improve these sectors.

Mr Khan also highlighted the importance of taking concrete steps to eliminate `corrupt elements` in the system to ensure national progress.

Meanwhile, Profesor Mohammad Inayatullah Khan announced that admissions for the Jand Resource Centre would officially commence in the third week of February 2025.
