MITHl: Tharparkar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zaman Narejo said on Wednesday the administration`s performance was badly affected in the desen region due to shonage of staff.
Mr Narejo told Dawn that there were no assistant commissioners in six talukas of Mithi, Kaloi, Chhachhro, Khensar, Diplo and Nagarparkar. The process of the upcoming census had also hit snags because of shortage of officials, he said.
He had written to high-ups several times to post the officials but did not receive any positive response so far, he said.
Mr Narejo admitted the shortage of staff was badly affecting not only the routine work but also creating difficulties for general public as well as students seeking domiciles and permanent residence cenificates, which were mandatory for admission to colleges and universities.
`I am facing problems in looking after affairs of the vast desen area and coordinating with officials of various depanments all alone,` he complained.
Meanwhile, PML-N MNA Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani said in a press statement that the Sindh government was indifferent towards the area, which according to him, was facing the worst crises of health, clean drinking water and other civic issues.
He said that on the one hand children were dying and on the other the government had no interest in posting officials and doctors to improve the conditions.
He said that he had met time and again the PPP leaders and requested them to form a joint forum of elected representatives of Thar to collectively work for the betterment of the area but did not receive an encouraging reply.MITHl: Tharparkar Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Zaman Narejo said on Wednesday the administration`s performance was badly affected in the desen region due to shonage of staff.
