SEF introducing ICT in underprivileged schools

DADU: In a bid to align its schools with the education system of the modern world and supplement teaching with technology, the Sindh Education Foundation (Government of Sindh) provides tablet computers, LED screens, computer labs and solar panels as part of its project aimed at introducing information and communication technology (ICT) in the SEFsupported schools located mostly in theruralareas across Sindh.

Called `Introducing Smart Teaching and Learning (INSTAL)`, the project aims at supplementing teaching-learning with the ICT as aid in its 500 schools running under its two major programmes, namely the Promoting Private Schools in Rural Areas of Sindh (PPRS) and SEF-Assisted Schools (SAS).

The pilot launch has been implemented in one school each in the districts of Dadu, Karachi, Khairpur, Mirpurkhas andUmerkot from February to March, 2017.

In this context, an event was organised at an SEF-supported school on Wednesday at village Ali Bux Panhwar of UC Chinni, Taluka Johi (Dadu).

MNA Rafique Ahmed Jamali was chief guest on the occasion, where he appreciated the role of the SEF in improving the quality of education in remote and neglected areas of the province.

Mr Jamali said: `Introduction of information technology in SEF schools is an example of the Sindh government`s commitment towards better education system in Sindh.` The SEF should intervene more in areas like Kachho where there was a dire need of quality education.

An Android-based e-learning app is being developed based on National Curriculum and Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs). The selected schools would be provided tablet computers with the apps pre-installed for maths and science subjects for Grade V during the sof t launch.
