Transperson among three held for violating loudspeaker law

OKARA: Three people, including a transgender person, were held over violation of The Punjab Sound Systems (Regulation) Act 2015 at a mehndi function in Shergarh town.
On a tip-off, Shergarh police rushed to a mehndi event and found a transgender person dancing to loud music in front of a number of people. As soon as they saw the police team, they tried to escape.
The police team claimed to have arrested three people, including Ali Imran, Wajid and transgender Irfan.
On the report of Sub-Inspector Muhammad Hussain of Shergarh police, a case was registered against 20 unidentified people as well as Qalb-i-Hasan, Nadeem and Intizar Hussain under sections 285, 286,294 of the PPC and 6 of the Sound Systems Act.
PASS AWAY: Poet and writer Malik Muhammad Anwar passed away on Sunday at the age of 80 following a brief illness.
The writer and Punjabi poet had six books to his credit. Young writers and poets were said to have sought guidance from the elderly Anwar. He was laid to rest in Ghoreysha graveyard and his funeral prayers were attended by people from all walks of life, especially writers, including Prof Razaullah Haider, Prof Ahmad Saqi, Arshad Ali Arshad, Haider Ali Sahir and Javaid Arif.
Meanwhile, known political workeroftheLeft,MianMuhammad Arshad, also passed away at the age of 74. From the platform of Mazdoor Kissan Party (MKP), Mr Arshad struggled in the presence of recog-nised Left leaders, including comrades Maj Ishaq Muhammad, Ghulam Nabi Kallo and Afzal Khamosh. All these leaders had previously visited here to address aspirants of the Leftist ideology, struggling against feudalism and capitalism.
Although he received school-level education, he used to study left-wing literature and held dialogues with leaders regarding basic labour rights to create awareness against exploitation.
Arshad was laid to rest in his native village 1/4 L. His funeral prayers were attended by various political leaders, including comrades Hashmat Ali Khan Lodhi, Abdur Rehman Shah, Zainul Abidin, MKP Lahore President Irfan Ali Irfan, Fazal Ahmad Khusro and former MNA Chaudhry Sajjadul Hasan.
