SAHIWAL: A violent clash between two rival groups resulted in death of a man and critical wounds to five others at Chak 37/SP, tehsil Pakpattan, on Saturday.

Tension started between the Habibur Rehman Tariq group and the Rana Nasrulla group.

Nasrulla when the latter accused Tariq of being involved in production of fake detergent powder and tea packaging.

The tense situation escalated into a violent clash between the two groups that led to firing.

Eyewitnesses reported that firing continued for 40 minutes. After the firing, Rana Mushtaq, RanaAbdur Razzaq, Rana Ashfaq and Rana 1ftikhar Joya were found injured while Sanaullah died on the spot.

Rescue 1122 shifted the injured to DHQ Hospital, Pakpattan.

District Police Officer Javed 1qbal deployed the Elite Force, police officers and officers in civvies to stabilise the situation.

PROTEST: Around two dozen staff members of the District Education Office (Elementary), Pakpattan, held a complete pen-down strike against their officer, Nusrat Naheed.

The staff members accused her of mistreating and misbehaving with them and lacking the professional skills to manage official affairs.

They submitted a signed application to Maria Tariq, the DC/EDO (Education), demanding Ms Naheed`s removal.

MURDER: The body of a man who had gone missing the other daywas found from Kassowal Bypass of the National Highway.

Report said Iftikhar, a resident of Chak 18/11-L, and an IT expert working with a private hotel chain, had gone missing along with his car on the Friday night. His family registered a kidnap case. The next morning, police found his abandoned car near Kassowal Bypass.

Later, they found his body, 300 meters away from the car. He was shot dead.

Chichawatni Saddar Police sent it to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for an autopsy. Police registered a case FIR against unidentified persons on the complaint of Aslam Ansari, the brother of the deceased.

The location of the deceased`s mobile phone was found in the Hayatabad area of Chichawatni. Police arrested a youth having a financial dispute with Iftikhar in connection with his murder.
