Alhamra`s Gosha-i-Adab-o-Fun springs back

LAHORE: After a gap of two years, the Lahore Arts Council resumed musical activities at the Gosha-iAdab-o-Fun at Alhamra Art Centre, The Mall.

Lahore Arts Council Executive Director retired Captain Atta Muhammad Khan inaugurated the musical evening along with other guests, musicians, artistes at Alhamra.

Chinioti stools (moorahs) were placed at the venue where singers and musicians performed for two hours.

The evening was conducted by Naveen Roma, committee member of this exclusive corner for literature and art.

The evening opened with instrumental performances by artists from the Alhamra Academy of Arts. Sitar was played by Ali Haider, harmo-nium by Irfan and guitar by two young artistes Subhan and Malaika -children of famous guitar player Sajjad Tafu. Flute was played by Mobeen, a student of known flute artist Ustad Noshad Ali Khan.

After the instrumentalists, some singers entertained the audience. Salma Sabir sang Reshma`s famous Lambi Judai`, Imran Jaffri spellbound the audience with `Tu Meri Zindagi Hai`.

The evening closed on a melodious note by Abdul Rauf who performed the ghazal `Khun Khun Shor Macahaie Kangan Sonay Ka` written by Atta Muhammad, the arts council executive director.

All singers and instrumentalists were from the Alhamra Academy of Arts.

The corner would hold activities every Wednesday from 4pm to 6pm.
